So, a man is flying in to RDU to buy the F150 I have for sale. I was supposed to meet him at the airport at 9:40 to finalize. I leave home with a 45 minute buffer and about 5 miles from home the battery light comes on...
Turn around, call my wife and tell her to just go back home and I will be there after picking up an alternator at Advance.
Get to advance, they open at 9....it's 8.....
I go home, pull the alternator in about 5 minutes and jump online to check stock. My advance has no 95 or 130A alternator in stock......for one of the most prolific trucks of all time.....
Check Oreilly, nope.
Check Autozone, yeah it's in stock.
Head over and get there just as they open. I am so blessed, it is a 18 yr old kid opening.......
He pulls the alternator, it's the wrong case. Right part # on the box but it's a Taurus/Explorer type alternator.
I tell him it's wrong, he says it's right
I said "do you see this alternator I brought in?". He affirms that he does. I say "does it look like that one?". He shakes his head. I say "it's the right box with the wrong part". He says "it says right here it's the right one" while pointing at the screen.....
I snatched my core from his hand, and head to the next town where I saw one in stock at Advance.
Go to Clayton Advance store to get the Alternator, guy tells me he has to run down to Carquest to get it.......
Finally get back home, get truck up and going.
Get to airport late and apologetic but guy is totally cool and thankful that the alternator didn't quit on him halfway back to Indiana on a Sunday night.
But, I guess all in all it wasn't the worst most stressful Sunday morning I have ever had.
I did wake up to a kidney stone once....
