Anyone have one? A friend of mine is in need. I don't know what axle it would be.

When I find out what it is.......I'll do a wanted in classified!

Most likely a 14 bolt, probably had a Gov Lock, It probably blew up....... But I have never seen that before.........

Ask him if it has a removable pinion support. Could be a GM 11.5 but failry rare. 14 bolts were most popular.

I thought it looked like a 14 bolt but wasnt sure if they still used them. Thanks Chase!

I'll get more details on whats wrong with it later.

Can the newer axles be found reasonably CHEAP? Cheaper to replace than completely rebuild?

we just put one in a buggy that was from a newer chevy. it was a 14 bolt with disk brakes i think that he paid somewhere around $300 for it

I know it's technically an "AAM", but as I recall, that's just what the "Gov't" axles are being called?

Ahh, found it. it's a 10.5" AAM, which is different than the 11.5" gear axle used in the dmax and 8.1L trucks. How much different? Not sure. I'd bet it would bolt up and plug up just like the 10.5" though... Might be an interesting one to find, I'd imagine there aren't a ton of 6.0 2500/3500SRW's around.

Unrelated, I wish their was a better (or should I say, one at all) limited slip for the 11.5". Not a locker, just a limited slip.

"AAM" stands for Amererican Axle & Manufacturing. They are the company that makes the 14 bolt axles.

My buddy used to work at AAM in Michigan. he used to give me all kinds of Prototype axle parts. He gave me a prototype 14 bolt front axle about 10 years ago.

I really wish he still worked there:mad:

mainly because the dana 60 front is so popular and stong enuf for any vehicle meant to be driven on pavement. Besides i think they tryed to faze out solid axles and use IFS crap:fuck-you:

The Dodges get a torsen-style diff in the 11.5"
