what axle is this

I am positive that is the number on it. Only thing I could come up with is 74-77 dodge van. But I can get nothing verifying that its a d60 or what.

Dana's BOM search(1979 & up ONLY) doesn't find that number... wire wheel it *again* & scrape over the numbers lightly with sharp pc. of steel... then report the new number...

This could shed some light on the search issue :flipoff2:

thats kind of what I suspected. Last front I got was a d50, off a ford truck. Supposedly a 1 ton front axle. Are d61's any good for anything.

Here's the skinny on the 61 from POR. I'd look for something else.

Yeah, it's no big deal IMO... all you need is a spacer.

No front, it's a rear the guy was wanting $150 for it. May be worth my while if all I need is a spacer.

Like RC said, you can get a 60 for that. The 61 is a good axle, beefy tubes, brakes and housing, it's just very limited in it's gear choices and it costs more to upgrade. I ran a welded 61 rear for awhile in my old rig. Used a 3/8" spacer a friend made in his shop. When I went to a spool I got a 60 4.56+ and was able to use the standard 3/16" Mr Gasket one that all the catalogs have. Worked fine until other parts went and I swapped it for a 60. Hold off and find a 60, you'll be happier in the long run.
