What could go wrong??

A while back, I bought an old Kubota B2400, with 60" MMM deck and bagger.

The bagger works great, especially the past couple of weeks picking up leaves, but the bags (3) fill up way too fast.

So, I've been looking at ways to replace the bagger with a larger screen cage, or a trailer (like the DR Power vac trailer). The deck has a pretty strong PTO-powered fan to blow clippings to the bagger, so either should work.

BUT then....I had my latest brilliant idea... How about building a nice wire cage on the back, put a propane burner in it....and incinerate as I mow/collect leaves???

What could possibly go wrong with that plan??

I gotta get a patent!!

Y'all watch the 6 o'clock news....

I'd think it would be easy with some chicken wire or smaller mesh wire mounted on a small lawn dump trailer and a flex hose.

I have a nagger for my zero turn but rarely use it since it fills up too fast and is a pain to dump. I'd be interested to see what you come up with and me copy it.

They sell a bag that's a great big tube that hooks to the upright of the deck and bypasses the bags on the back. Good for leaves.

Or mow it first then bag it. Takes up less space that way.

Seriously....has anybody tried increasing the size of a bagger, or hooking up a trailer??

I didn't understand a word that guy said.

I have a tremendous number of leaves to deal with every fall. I bought this thing last year from Tractor Supply with a 10% off coupon. It works great, but even as big as it is, I still have to empty it 2-4 times depending on how thick the leaves are on my lawn. My mower has two bags and wouldn't make it 50 ft before the bags were full. It mulches the leaves as it sucks them up too. The trailer 'dumps' to unload the leaves.

Prior to buying this thing, it would take me 4-5 hours every weekend to blow the leaves (Stihl back pack blower) and then mow the grass.

My only complaints about it are:
1) HEAVY (I could really use a bigger more powerful lawn tractor
2) LOUD (I put in ear plugs plus wear a headset protector)
3) Can't turn as sharply because the rear tires will contact the tongue

Youtube ..... tarp leaf bagging system.

I was thinking a confined flame/burn cage...but then found this:

We have one of those pull trailer baggers. Used to pull it with a worn out motor swap craftsman. We also have parts to another one. Maybe like the entire box and frame. Not sure. It was bought when Father in law turned one over and Burnt it to the ground. Before my time here. I haven't wanted to make it work behind my Snapper Zero turn. Fear of damaging the drive train.

Its a bit of a drive and the carb bowl usually needs rinsed but your more than welcome to come get it If you wanna experiment. With the notion.

They like drier leaves and we weighted the tires on the last one to help with hill side stability. Simple motor configuration. Direct drive to a metal impeller.

I put a mulching kit on my zero turn and no longer blow leaves. It shreds them up good.

I have a gravely rear engine mower that has a PTO grass catcher. Originally had 3 cans on the back. I built plywood sides on my lawn trailer with a door on the back. Covered the top with a cloth tarp. I bought a new 5" tube that went to the trailer and it works pretty well. I can't go as fast as I would like, but it's been good.

You guys worry a lot more about leaves than I do.

On the oft chance that the leaves build up enough in the yard to bother me I just mow with the mower blowing in until all the leaves are in a pile then I strike a match. Normally my desire for a fire comes into play well before my disdain for leaves though..

They cut the pond banks at work with those Ventrac tractors. Friggin things will go anywhere and look super stable. And apparently the company has a sense of humor too!

3-100+yr oaks and a ~80yr pecan tree.. idgaf. If leaves 100% covered my yard during the fall/winter months it wouldn't bother me.
I have a huge sycamore in the front yard and two in the back. They have a leaf about the size of your hand,or maybe bigger if you have girl hands, and fill the gutter after about two days.Drives me crazy.

Gutters =/= yard

I have to clean my gutters monthly with all my leaves

*Edit. Monthly is not accurate. Every time it rains during leaf fall season is more like it

I would trade my 150yr water oak for that any day. Huge leaves are much easier than the million tiny ones and acorns that I have fall.

It'd be nice to figure out so nothing useful to do with all the acorns. So far they are a just mulch replacement.

Big Brother must be watching me or something. This was on my FB ome page this morning.

Hell on a hay making machine. Read a lot about doing it.

You would think so but its takes a lot less leaves to make a big pile when their hand sized leaves. Not a big deal if your choppin them but its more work if your blowing them.Acorns on the other hand are a whole different deal.
