What did you have to assemble for Christmas?

I assembled like 30 tamales into corn husks complete with string to hold them together, then assembled an eggnog with rum once I put them in the steamer. They're steaming their little tamale asses off as we speak. I've moved on to beer and then a nice Malbec as I was making some guacamole as a quick snack.

I know when I'm going next year!

I went outside last night at around 9:30 to assemble a 15’ trampoline and a basketball goal from Santa. I got to bed around 2:30 AM and Santa got all the credit. The Dad life.
Those damn trampolines ain't no joke!

I assembled a Paw Patrol mountain rescue race track thing, which wasn't too bad and I did have three little helpers. The 3 and 5-yo's both assembled their own little Lego kits that said 6 and up on the package.

Our son turned 1 on Christmas Eve so I have a double whammy to look forward to every year. This year he mostly got preassembled trucks and annoying electronic gadgets that sing or otherwise make noise. All I had to assemble was a plastic slide and a kozy coupe. The slide popped right together but th coupe was a little aggravating since I was on carpet and had a handsy 1yr old helper spreading out and chewing on parts.

Give it a few years and you’ll end up with something that requires an engineering degree.
Having an engineering degree complicates even the simplest of things because you know how it SHOULD be made! I can't even buy a claw hammer without noticing stupid stuff that was done wrong in the design or manufacturing.

That never happens to me with everything I ever touch.

FYI, never go into a Festool showroom. If you do, never pick up anything and look at it. The danger to your wallet is too great.

Assembly explosion area for the cedar reindeer factory.

Give it a few years and you’ll end up with something that requires an engineering degree. It’ll be missing parts or be of crappy construction. It’ll be late, cold, and you’ll realize you need double AA’s or something and the stores will be closed. You’ll make it happen with some dad ingenuity.

Oh like that hot wheels launcher that took D batteries? AA & stack of quarters work, for a little while.

This year was pretty easy:
- basketball goal (Glad I started on this the night of the 23rd, it definitely took longer than I expected)
- Wild Thing Fisher Price ride on toy (Only took minutes)

Everything else was standard toys without large amounts of assembly

Last year was a big deal though. I took two days of vacation on the last couple of days my son was at school, and built a zip line with launching platform and successfully kept him from wandering around our property and finding it until Christmas morning. I also had to assemble one of those climbing domes on Christmas Eve, but had pre-assembled sections of it days before and hidden them in the woods.

Our neighbor has two of those, and my wife wants me to build a couple now.
I was informed that they looked good, but the wife wants a much bigger set for outside for next year.

Only had to assemble a fire truck this year. Wasn't as bad as I thought.

You're not alone, my little girl's birthday is tomorrow so we're in the same boat. She's two this year so she doesn't quite understand the significance of her birthday yet, but next year she'll be on top of it I'm sure lol.

We moved into our new house on Dec 20th so I basicly assembled our whole house in 4 days. Had family over on Dec 24th. They couldn't believe how much was done already.

And my wife's birthday is Dec 24th so she gets double whammied birthday and Christmas all lumped together.

Fire pit for the lady's mother...basically a giant FO to her younger sister's doucher of a husband who has known about her wanting a fire pit at the house for a while and won't shutup about the big custom one he just built in their backyard. I still have to go back and line the inside of the ring with some rock next time we are home.

I’m about to put my house on the market. I hope it sells quick but I dread having to move again.

My kids are older, so no assembling here. I was going to assemble some tequila and orange juices but my youngest is interested in bartending, so all I had to do was point at my glass

Did he practice throwing your drunk ass out too??

At about 11:45 we started putting out the presents, and this was still in it's box downstairs. We bought it several months ago, so I had forgotten about the size of the box, and assumed it was mostly assembled. Or at best I had to put the cage together.

So I went downstairs to open it up and yeah... no. This was way more involved than what I thought needed to be done at midnight.

But the morning of, our 20 month old daughter ran straight to it. Fumbled her way in, and refused to get out. We had to open her gifts and hand them to her.

It's been 3 days...

She still hasn't left it. You ever try changing a diaper in a Cozy Coupe? We finally just stopped putting them on, and we hose it out every so often.

This is the kind of appreciation for gifts I want from my kids.

2 bikes (one balance bike, one big kid bike)
1 hot wheels ultimate garage
2 other hot wheels tracks
2 Cars tracks still waiting
1 8' trampoline
1 cozy coupe
Not to mention all the food and cookies and stuff the wifey and I made.

Disassembling the other toys' packaging was almost worse than all of the above. My oldest turns 6 tomorrow so there is probably more to come :D

X2 on the packaging. You almost need power tools now days to get toys out of their box.

Snapped together a Lionel Thomas the Train electric train set that my buddy @Atla hooked us up with. We couldn't figure out how to make the whistle blow or train to go in reverse. My wife was all upset about to order one at 12:00 am(like it would arrive in 6 hours) and couldn't sleep. I just went to sleep no problem..I figured if Santa gets the credit he can also take the blame. 7 good hours of sleep later we got it figured out.
