how do yall come up with prices on stuff you sale. every time i sell something either i under price it and it sells in two hours or no one ever calls. makes me think its overpriced the item. for instance im getting ready to sell my 1985 cj7. it has dana 44 front and rear sitting on 38 swampers. 304 with fresh tune up. used racing seats and harness. new fuel cell with awesome stereo system. what should be the asking price. i know what i have invested and i will not take that for it but i want it to sell kinda fast since im wanting to buy a wrangler. i also know i cant put feelers in the for sale section . what do i ask for this thing.

Just look around at similarly built rigs and go from there. If yours costs more than other similar rigs, you have to justify that to a potential buyer. You will never get out what you put in :(

I think that is just how stuff sells on here. Basically if its not dirt cheap, no one on this forum will buy it because then they can't brag about how good of a deal they got. So the only way to get stuff to sell is price it low, but then it goes really fast.

I'll give you $1200, take it or leave it:bounce2:

Lol more or less, I posted my jeep up, asked a decent amount, right around KBB value, took around a week to sell, few bsers and the usual but it sold yesterday for what I was hoping to get. The Older jeeps (cj's and such) have to have a market, and since most of the market is getting hit pretty hard by the economy, it won't work out as well.

Just try to think about what you have to have out of the vehicle, and add a few hundred bucks so when people lowball you they feel special when you take it. Just my .02

there are 2 prices.

#1 - the price of everything you put into it including your time. This price will never be paid and you will have a better chance of winning the lottery.

#2 - the price people are willing to pay. It is typically 1/2 of #1 at best.

just for instance say i got 2400 in it needs front brake caliper and front windshield would 2000 be too much and people would laugh or is it to cheap and loose my chance to sell it for almost enough to buy a yj

No way to say without seeing the vehicle. You could play your cards right and put 2400 into it and have a nice vehicle worth easily that much, or do like a lot of people do. They could spend $10k on a rig and it still be complete shit.

Price it high, then drop the price every week until it sells.

I would try to sell it at $5000 depending on how pretty it is and how slick the paint is and the top need to be in good condition. If not then sell it for less. Pretty sells better than awesome specs.

i painted it flat black has hard top not real pretty but will look good in woods i think i will post it think i got the pricing down pat thanks for yalls help

For a CJ-7 Craigslist or ebay are MUCh better than NC4x4...unless I buy it here and sell it there like I have a few times now....

I always go on Ebay and see what same or similar items are going for and average the price then put my item up on Ebay with my reserve and start the bids at $.99 and it's usually soid within a day or two.

wat? read it like you typed it........ it makes no sense.
let me translate

Dear Sir,
If you are trying to improve the probability of selling a CJ-7 I believe that both craigslist and E-bay would afford a much greater opportunity than NC4x4. Unless of course you choose to price it low enough, at which time I would procure the vehicle from you, and sell it on one of the two aforementioned locales like I have done on multiple occasions in the past.

better

a little punctuation would go oh so far. let me give you an example.

exhibit a) i helped my uncle jack off a horse

exhibit b) i helped my uncle jack, off a horse.
