As far as oil change intervals are concerned, I took my advice from my grandfather. He was Ford Master Mechanic from the mid-60's to mid-90's, and he always told me 12k or once a year was plenty fine with dino oils. I adhered to that schedule. Gas engines in my family have always lasted 250-300k. As I got a little older, I got leery of the intervals and have sent a few samples to Blackstone Labs, and the 12k intervals were/are sufficient. So, the rigs I run dino, get changed between 10-12k and full syn rigs get 12-15k.
