What do you want to see done at Uwharrie?

didn't read all of this but the trail markers don't match up to whats on a map. I'm still learning the trails and its hard to navigate a trail by the numbers if they don't match up to whats on the map from the outpost.

Which map are you using, I have one of the detailed maps with all the obstacles and it makes it easier to figure out where your going compared to the fold out one you can get at the outpost. There should be a link on here some where for it.

I think I remember they are changing some of the trail numbers around so if you have an older map then that might explain the confusion.

Me personally I would like a trail thats kinda like a ropes course for ohv. Where you have to manuever around obsticles, ride on suspended log bridges, even teter toters. It would basically something a stock vehicle can do but it is more of a mental challenge for the driver.

Scott Fields is building some stuff like that over at the Uwharrie Off-Road Training Center.

I'd love to have a race at URE. The forest service seems to be concerned about how destructive the racing is on the trail system. I am concerned as well. Racing is very rough on the land and I do not want to jeopardize anything at URE. Plus, we can't "close" the trails and areas from spectators or others that may want to ride the trail, which would be a huge liability issue. We must maintain control of the area with control points (front gate at each event, etc.) and with URE, it just isn't a viable option for ECORS. Unless these items change, we can't do anything there...

I would like to see them take a dozer to the roads like 553 and take some of the pot holes out. It is rough out here.

Then you will have those many rills from the dozer tracks that vibrate your truck to death. They should just pave the entire place trails and all, after all they already have the guard rails up like a highway. In some ways I think it would be interesting to see what it would be like to ride the trails as a road. o_O

We saw a few hooters there a few weeks ago......

No prob snapdude. Now that i have engaged on this thread, my opinion is as follows.
Leave the trails alone. Open more trails if possible. Clean up your shit (and other peoples shit) when you leave.
I started wheeling at URE and i will continue to.
Enjoy the forest. I do.

I got an idea and not everyone will like it . I have been up here for a week now wheelin and have seen too darn much.

Have everyone that comes to get a pass for the trails mandatory for them to go thru a class even if it is just online. It would cover Thread Lightly, trash pickup after yourself and the other stuff like staying on the darn trail and not going where ever you want. Whenever you go to get a pass from where ever you would show them your paper saying you had completed the course. Your name and drivers license or whatever would then be put in a data base and if you were caught doing anything you were not suposed to you would loose your priveleges for a year to go on the trails. I know it would be hard to catch some of these people but just the thought of loosing it might just be enough for some.

Again i know everyone will not like it and it would be a pain and maybe too much but after picking up over 10 large garbage bags of trash and not even touching 1/2 of it and putting wooden guard rails back into place it is just my thoughts, so take them with a grain.
