what engine is this

I think it is a LS7 from the lable
but I am not sure what that is exactly 7.4 or 8.1 ...etc
it is a 2004 year

it isn't an 8.1; should be considered 5.7L

Engine Performance

Hey, Here is a link from Street and Performance's Website, These numbers can be found on the driver's side rear of the engine, a flat place on the block, near the top and the numbers will be etched there, I hope this helps, These guys have been very helpful with my install.

looks like a 5.7 ls1 to me

Exactly, he's reading the label upside-down! LS1 has a 75mm throttle body and three bolts to hold the throttle body assembly on. LS7 has a 90mm with 4 bolts (not what is shown above). LQ9 (truck) intake looks completely different than most of the LS series intakes.

Handy article in 8/07 Peterson's with intake pictures gave me the info.
 
well seeing as how there only appears to be one bolt on the top that you can see holding the throttle body on i would say there are two under neath and that it is a LS1
