What front end

Hey guys my brother tore the shit out of his jeep this weekend at the mud hole. I am trying to figure out I his front axle is a 35 or a 44. I have to find axles for the front now cause he broke both of them. I have a few pics I know they arnt that good I was in a rush this am.

Looks like XJ or TJ based on suspension.

There are no 35 front's. Only Rubicons have a D44 in the the front. Most likely it's a D30.
 
Sorry bout that guys its a 98 TJ my brother was told it was a 44 when he bought it but I don't think that's right. It's got a locker in it which I know that dosent matter.

I was talking to my brother tonight. He says he's goin to pull the one axle out and leave it. Will the grease get slug out of it to? Or is there a seal in there to trap it?

you can pull the inner shaft out and stuff a rag in the axle tube. There is a seal, but it seals against the axleshaft.
I think you need to keep the outer shaft in there to support the wheel bearing hub, or else it will self destruct. That's what I've read, never tried it though.

You need the outer shaft for bearing pre-load. Or you'll lose a unit bearing.


While not in a Jeep, the B2/Ranger used a D35 TTB up front...

As I typed that I knew somebody was going to say that.:rolleyes:
