What happened to this fuse?

My onboard air compressor suddenly stopped working yesterday. I've got it running to a fuse box, but there is also an inline fuse near the compressor. This is the inline fuse... It was in a rubber/plastic holder to protect it. The truck was Parked when the fuse failed.

Too much amerage. It's not enough to blow it all of a sudden, but it got hot. You need a bigger wire

That makes sense but I'm almost positive I matched up the wire with what came with the compressor, 10 gauge.

If the wire is the right size, you have to be building resistance somewhere. Maybe the motor in the compressor is about to the bed.
