I had my van aligned 5k ago and Clark tire didn't tighten the bolts down. I've rotated the tires 3 times in that 5k watching the inside of the tires get worse. Yesterday I noticed cords showing so I had a garage move the bad tire to the back so I could get home from pfafftown. 75 miles later that tire is showing cords. I think they should give me 2 new tires and let me buy 2 more bit they laugh in my face. What's fair?

I just said Winston Salem so that can't be the case.

First off, do you have any documentation and/or proof that they didn't tighten the bolts down? If they admitted blame, then they should be throwing suggestions at you not the other way around. But yes, fair would be for them to replace at least two of the tires if they in fact messed it up. Needless to say, that would be the last time their wrenches touch my vehicle if I were you....

Yes, they admit they made the mistake. But the tires only have 25% tread at the moment. The inside of all 4 are bald now though from me rotating them 3 times in 5k. I've purchased 3 sets of tires in the last 2 years for different vehicles in my "fleet". I guess I try too hard to please my customers hoping for repeat business. Clark will not get another job from me if they don't satisfy my situation. Everyone makes mistakes but when its your fault I think you should go above and beyond to correct it, that's what brings in repeat customers and new clients.

They suggest I buy 4 new tires, and they are doing a new allignment now. I tightened the driver side last night and brought it in this morning and they tightened the passenger side in front of me.

you should pay 75% of the cost of new tires if the old ones were at 25%.

And, did you take it to them after you first noticed it? Did you wait until all 4 tires needed to be replaced?

If you waited, you're lucky to get 25% off new tires. If I were Clark, I'd most likely give you 15% off a new set and a refund on the alignment, but thats about it...

If you bought the tires from them originally, then I'd agree to pay for two tires AT THE PRICE YOU PAID FOR THEM (so they don't just jack up the price 100% and get you to pay for all 4 anyway) if they give you the other two as their concession for screwing them up. Obviously, you paid for an alignment and they did the alignment, so getting your money back for it doesn't seem to make much sense. Them replaceing what they messed up does.

THe manager should have a way of accounting for the loss they will take on the two tires, and as you said, they SHOULD want to keep your business. If they don't, I wouldn't hesitate to find a new shop

Yes the tires came from them, as well as the last 3 sets from this van and jeep. They put a used tire on the front and left the cords showing on the rear.

Now I'm home and the used tire has a big goose egg on the side.

I saw a commercial where someone throws a tire through the window...do that and film it..then post up.

I wish it was Discount Tire, I would do it.

Now they call me to let me know they went out and bought 2 used tires for me. Would it not have been better to sell me 2 overpriced tires and give me 2. The profit margin would make up the $ difference and they have a happy/repeat customer. Now they give me 2 used mismatch tires and say have a nice day.

I agree, I should not have let it eat all 4 tires, but I didn't think the alignment was the problem and I was doing everything to find the problem but it took a month and a half. I could have just let it eat 2 tires and then bought 2 to replace them then 2 more to replace them. Same difference I still need new tires thanks to them. I had 50% tread before all this started.

Well, after all is said and done I'm buying 4 new tires for "cost". Going to save about $200 so better than the 2 mismatch tires they gave me.
