I've been thinking about getting a small early 90s toyota pickup (22re) since gas prices are through the roof and i'm commuting 45min everyday on the highway. Whats the expected mileage from those trucks? People advertise in autotrader 30+ but i've heard other wise. anyone have one and care to share their mpgs?

Thanks

havent paid a lot of attention but i get 24-26 in mine on the highway, around town sucks but i drive the piss out of it every chance i get... mine's a 92 model, reg cab 2wd short bed with a 5-speed

30+ is BS.
However I wouldn't be shocked at 25.
Just curious, if it's just for DD, 2wd on the highway - why not buy a cheap gas-saver car?

My old little 1980 Dodge D-50 2wd could squeeze out 29mpg on the right highway with an easy right foot. AND it only had a 4-speed.

Normally got 25-26mpg, with ~100k on the clock.

had a 95 with 422,000 miles on it, 22RE and it got a good steady 32 out of it on the highway... Of course it was worn in really well... I think it was a chase truck, because it was the nicest truck ive ever owned, and had that many miles on it... Could get about 28 with the A/C on...
