Traveling I-40 around Burke County, I see several bridges that have white paint on a column or other bridge "part" All different. Anyone know what it's there for?

Are they square boxes not filled in just a white outline?

bridge crews have been working to repair cracks, chips and do general maintenance all down through I40, before the crews go to work..someone else shows up and marks the problematic areas with paint. I guess that's what you see Chip.

^^^thats why I was asking about the white boxes. I have seen them marking bridges all over then coming back and chiseling concrete and putting primer on rebar.

^^yes this. I've been working at a motel and some bridge workers were staying there. That's what they said they were doing. These guys dangle from ropes and work the underside. They get paid well, but said they lived in hospital and motel rooms nearly year round.

Thanks, that makes sense. But I never see anyone working on them. so I didn't know. Guess they have not got this far yet.

They always do it late at night around here
