We were near the coast guard station today at the Beaufort inlet and this boat hauled ass by. Anyone know what it is? Seems like a militaryish vehicle unless it's one of space ex vehicles.

Well, they don't give a damn about a no wake zone. Honestly, it put off very little wake for the size and speed it was running.
it shouldnt that hull design is a cross between a hydrofoil and air boat. i bet that thing on plane only has a few inches of the hull below the water line and the motor under. but with 4 cats im wandering if it is a jet drive setup.

Pretty sure it was a jet drive by the way it sounds. There's no way it would only draft 3' otherwise.
The nwz is hard to see after one of the hurricane took the big signs. It's just a small bouy on each end. You catch anything?
True, but they should know where it is, i would think. USGG doesn't ever police it anyway. Boats fly through all the time.

Not really.... we didn't bottom fish long and caught a few whiting. Caught 1 nice 19" spec up the icw.

Oh they do. I get stopped all the damn time for "safety checks".
It is super annoying though when I apparently have a target on my back but Bro in the sea fox blows through there at 30 knots just fine.
I've seen them check some folks, but never stop someone for a wake violation.
