it is on my 86 4runner, has to do with the steering. It mounts to the frame on the passenger side and then to the steering, on the other side that's where the pitman arm is. What is this one called, it's got some play and i need to replace it. is it the idle arm?

You can get a rebuild kit from the stealership for about $20. It's very easy to rebuild, a cap, two bushings and a nut.

You can get a new one with a lifetime warranty for 40 or 45.

$50 got me one with a lifetime warrenty. and it's a lot easier than rebuilding, and now i've got somewhat of a spare

i can't get it to come free from the steering arm. Un-bolted it from the frame no problem but can't get it out of the steering cross arm thing. Hit it with a hammer and nothing happened....ideas?

Bolt it back to the frame so it doesn't move every time you hit it...Hit it harder... use a pickle fork... make sure you took the nut off!

I got it after I borrowed a pitman arm puller...then it was easy sailing from there.....and it drives so much better now :)
