I am doing a frame off restoration on a jeep cj8 scrambler. It will mostly be a weekend driver but I would like to wheel it a little at places like Uwaharrie. I am planning on running a 4.0,ax-15,dana 300, dana 30 front, dana 44 rear, 4.10 gears, 33 BFG All terrains. I am getting ready to have the stock cj dana 30 and dana 44 regeared so now is the time to do lockers/lsd if I am going to do them. Obviously I would love to have selectable lockers like Ox or ARB but budget wise I just can't justify that much cost. I want to keep this street friendly and something that I can drive in the little bit of snow we get here if I want. I have heard good things about detroit true tracs but I have no experience with them. Considering the light amount of wheeling I am thinking about, do I even need front and rear or just one? Maybe one locker and one LSD. I just want to get some real world experience opinions.

I have run a Detroit and a Aussie locker. I would recommend both. If cost is a bing deciding factor then you can't go wrong with an Aussie. As for one or two lockers, if you can afford both, then get two. If you can only do one, then it is coin toss as which one in my opinion because both have trade offs for on/offroad.

I'd go with a spartan, cheap, good and strong. To me a limited slip is about as good as open, they will always let you down when you need traction.
