I have been seriously thinking about joining a club. Not really sure who to look into, it would be great to find one local, i live in lincolnton. I have just enough on the tj to be not stock, 2" BDS lift, warrior disconects 31" muddawgs and all the high lift goodies, I am looking too make some new freinds and learn a few things. Thanks for any input

Carolina Trailblazers would be a great place to start. Go to their web site for more info.

Big dixie boggers

I have heard alot about the big dixie boggers but not so sure i have enough machine for them

Carolina Trailblazers

We have members from all over the state, and other states also. Go to the website for info, and attend the next club ride. I think you will have a good time.

When I joined the Trailblazers I was in a stock YJ and have had a blast with them ever since. Good group of folks.

Triad4wda is pretty much just a few of us that still hang out on the yahoo list. But one thing I think we did well / other groups should consider is we specifically had trail rides for stock or near stock rigs!

Bunch of folks went from that and got pretty into the trail scene afterwards!

I have no idea where Lincolnton is at, but CTBlazer rides are mostly in the western part of the state. (2 rides per year to Uwharrie, 1 to the beach)

CTB does appear to have MORE rides than any other club in the state / organized? But I haven't been watching the schedules for CNC, CORE, BDB, etc. (CTB rides every month / has been since early 70s)

Final thought, CTB has quite a few folks on 33s that ride.. I started with them on 32s and a full size rig. They are good / patient and showed me the right lines for my vehicle!

Search around on our site. We do have yeary dues, that give you membership to not only the Carolina Trailblazers, but also the Southern Four Wheel Drive Association, and the United Four Wheel Drive Association. Monthly Newsletter, and a pretty good bunch of folks to wheel with.

Any questions, feel free to give me a shout.

Given your location, that would be good. I started out in the CTB back in the day (around 1995) with a completely stock CJ5 with the exception of some AT tires and a winch.

They are based out of the Hickory/Catawba County area

My advise would be to locate ALL the clubs in the area.

CNC4x4
CTB
Triad
Core
VEX
BDB
etc..

Then talk to each of them. Plan to ride with each of them, at least once, twice if you can do it. Spend this whole year trying them out. Go camping, cook, eat, etc... Try ALL aspects of each club.

Your part will be to do your homework on each club. Research where their rides are and even what trails you may be best suited to. Possibly join any private mailing lists if your allowed to. Ask questions of the members. You will find you may like several.

I think you will find that most clubs are friendly and will welcome a new person in for them to test the waters.

Also you will find many clubs have small groups that ride outside of the normal 'scheduled' ride. Many clubs have groups that go to larger organized events or rides. So the fact is you will see most of the same people at many rides/events, even on the same day your their with 'your' club.

Lastly make sure any club you join is a member of the regional and national 4x4 associations. SFWDA - Souther Four Wheel Drive and UFWDA - United Four Wheel Drive

Personally, I'm a member of CTB, but I will ride/hangout/camp with anyone who's doing what I want to do. Rather than dump you to a web site for you to answer you own questions, feel free to PM me about CTB, while I'm not an expert, I will be happy to offer any advise I may have..

Thanks for the personal touch, Mike! I think that will go a long way toward recruitment for any club interested in growth!

I can speak up for VEX. www. Verticalexcursions.com we are a small but growing group around the raliegh area. Being your loaction we might not be the best bet for you. We hit ure a good amount every year, and we try to accomidaye the stock rigs (which means you can go almost everywhere down there. The down fall our meetings are inraliegh. For more information send me an email lauren@verticalexcursions.com. With that said I recomend trailblazars. There meetings are held at the monthly rides. They do have the higher dues then us but it is for a reason, that extra cash supports your wheeling trails. Even then it is cheap in the longrun. Best of luck!

Show up to various wheeling events posted in the upcoming events section on this board. You will find people that you fit in with.

thanks

thanks foa all of the info yall, sounds like i will llook into the carolina trail blazers first, they are close to home and lots of uwharrie rides:driver:
