What should I buy?

my vote is for what was mentioned above. get a work van and have it SASd by the company that advertises it on here. cant remember the name but there sweet. onbaord water, air, everything. then you wouldnt need a RV!!!

edit- there built by U-Joint Offroad. theres a link on the front page

Kids are 6 & 9 so no car seats. I think technically the small one is supposed to be in one of those booster seats.

What about the Expeditions and Explorers with 3rd row seat? I haven't seen much info about their off road ability. Do they suck?

Used Durangos seem pretty cheap. I've got a feeling they must suck in general.

my vote is dodge durango. but it does have its cons. its ifs but my dad has one and it does great in mild offroad and snow with street tires. if we put some good ats on it im sure it would go in the places your are talking about. has 3 rows. last is smaller though, better for kids, loose most of cargo room with the 3rd row up, but easy to fix with a hitch haul or something. his only has the 4.7 and it has pleanty of power, they make them with 5.2s and 5.9s i beleive. its not too bad on gas, gets 22ish highway 18ish city. great dd. its really reliable for us never left us stranded or anything. oh and you can get an early 2000's model for pretty cheap and have $$ to spare

What are the cons GBOROXJ? I've seen a couple late 90's early 2000's models with around 100k miles in the $2500-$3500 range. You have to get near 200k miles to get a Tahoe in the $3-5k range and the Trailblazer hasn't quite been out long enough but I've seen them in the $6-9k range.

yeah i mean they are all prlly pretty close. but i love our durango and it cooks through the mountinas on the way up 421 to boone it rolls 65 or so with no problems and not workin overly hard. thats with the 4.7 v8 i have a buddy who has the 5.2 and he can cook through there rolling 70 or so. i think his did have a kn intake system, dont know how much that actually does. but yeah thats my vote and plus it will save you alot of $$
