Easy question. I have a 231 and want a t/c with 4:1 or something lower than 2.73:1. What are my options. 94 yj w/4cyl

Oh, money is a concern, $800 is too much for me.

are there any bolt on t/c that would work for a decent used price?

Not unless you find a Rubicon in a junkyard and the owner doesn't know what he has.

you can run a d300 flipped the 4to1 is about $600
so total you would have about the same $ just much stronger setup

you could also just gear the axles
there are lots of good packages out there

keep your eyes peeled for one with the lowrange kit installed, or an atlas. For the price of a dana300 and the flipkit, and the gearset, it will be more expensive than finding a used 231 with the 4to1 kit installed.

300 fliped, heavier duty. Atlas, $$$ but several choices. A Stak, also several options, and $$$. DO a crawl box from another 231, not as much $$ as the Flipped 300 with 4:1, or as much as the Stak or Atlas, but will add some length(8") and requires some fab work for mounts and so on.

Once again, your dead on.A d300 is an AWESOME case for the $$.Just my opinion.
