What the hell is going on at the catawba co tax office.

I am very anal about paying my taxes the second I get the notice. So at the beginning of July when I got to notice that my truck's tags were due in August I paid the taxes. On August 29th I got a letter in the mail from the Catawba County tax office stating that last year taxes on my house did not get paid, and they were placing a lien on my house August 1st. There have been no other Communications between us and the tax office at all . We have not received a single letter notice email nothing that the taxes didn't get paid last year . We checked and somehow the money never came out of our account for last year's taxes. So we paid them that night.

I got the sticker for my tag on the truck a few days ago. Today I got another tax notice for my truck. It was a bit confusing because I have several trucks. But once we looked at the tag number we knew it was the truck I had just paid taxes on. Oddly enough when I went online it told me the truck had to be inspected again.

So today I called the tax office and spoke to a very confused female who did not understand the problem. Finally I got to explain to her but I had the sticker in one hand and a tax notice in the other. And she said all that must be a computer error or a duplicate.

So what the heck is going on?
