Son of a monkey rat bastard Chinky jack ass stupid Motor motor making company....

Went to Install new motor on the CJ. Pulled the old ones and noticed that the new ones were coarse thread as opposed to the old ones being fine thread. ok, Fine makes more sense but whatever. Get the new motor mounts in place go to put the nuts on and WTF, the 9/16" that took the old off doesn't fit now... 5/8" is WAY too big.... metric? 15mm fits. Um... ok...

go to tighten the second one and the 15mm is too small. 16 too big. start taking a closer look and find a 9/16 coarse bolt and thread the new motor nut on. fits fine.... WTF! Makes it seem like a 3/8" coarse thread stud, that you use a 15mm wrench for the nuts.

Ends up on even closer inspection ALL the damn nuts are slightly flared to wjere a 9/16 doesn't fit but a 15mm sometimes fits depending on how pooched the nuts are.

Glad I had some 9/16" nylock nuts in reserve :shaking::shaking:

wow, went back and read that.... guess I was a bit too miffed to be typing at the time. That and the Wife standing over my shoulder trying to tell me how much she hates her new haircut... :rolleye:

I just went fishing for a few minutes to calm down. So now, basically, the stud for the new motor mounts is a 3/8" coarse thread, where as the old ones were 3/8" fine. The frustration came in deciphering WTF the new nuts were. should be 9/16" but none of my 9/16" stuff is fitting, too small. Wondering if they went Metric with the new mounts I grabbed a 15mm and it fit... snuggly... kinda. go to tighten the next nut and it doesn't fit. Ends up, the nuts are just screwed up. they are all a hair too big for 9/16", almost fit 15mm and are to small for 16mm or 5/8"

ALL the new nuts are this way.

ahh, much more clear now.....

but really, isnt that the way that almost everything seems to work???? if not then i must be doing something wrong.......

The last set I installed were "Made in India", so were guessing they're ChiCom parts or did it say so on the box/mounts?

And since I let you slide on your last "my CJ is lawn art" post, don't go thinking you can blame the NEXT 3 years of immobility on AutoZoo! :flipoff2:

Just did mine yesterday.

Mine were made in India also. the threads weren't A problem, and I figured out the socket size pretty quick. My fenders are removed, & I still had A heck of A time with them. the drivers side, was tough to line up the long bolt when putting it back in the new mount. Same with the passenger side, only to get A socket on the 15mm nut you have to get just the right combo. 3/8" drive 12" ext. ball type swivel, (square chunk U-joint type too loose) 15mm socket. try to fit your finger, & the socket, up through the engine bracket. Feel the socket slide on to the nut, & then turn it off. Sounds easy doesn't it ??? Well worth the effort though.

apply a small amount of 10w30 to the end of your finger, if that isnt available, astroglide will suffice.
