alright i know alot of talk on this. have yj, sua, 30 front, 8.8 rear, room for 35s with tj flares. so what 35s, still want to drive this.

like the trxus, bfg muds are on sale for 165.00 each at a buddys place, and i like the pitbull rockers a guy has for sale.

thoughts, opinions. suck it up, and get swampers.

how much road duty does it see? if more off road than on road go with a swamper. if the other way around i think the new bfg km2 should do good, but might be alittle spendy

I have the TrXuS MT in 35x12.5 and have not been pleased with them off road. I think the BFG MT is a better all around tire but the sidewalls are weak. I would go with the BFGs.

Really? I've had the opposite experience when I ran 35's of both the trXus mt and the bfg mt. The only thing the bfg's did better was wear on the road. They're like a brick. My bfg's wouldn't balance for a crap, they were like slicks in the rain/sleet/snow, and were constantly slipping off the rocks at Uwharrie.
Conversely, when I ran the trXus, they were great on wet roads, hooked up a lot better off-road, and were quiet and balanced on the highway. They just didn't wear quite as well as my bfgs. I probably just didn't rotate them enough to compensate for having a detroit in the back on a fullsize truck.

Off course, both tires will only be adequate off-road as they will never come close to performing like a dedicated, off-road only bias-ply.

Joel, care to elaborate? I thought you were originally pleased with them... what changed?

It may help others trying to decide between Brand A & Brand B...

I am pleased with the sidewalls compared to the BFGs but I have found the TrXuS to be pretty slippery on the rocks. They don't seem to grip as well as my siped BFGs did. The last trip to Harlan and Callalantee has me convinced it is the tires as similarly built rigs didn't have the same issues running the exact same lines. And for those thinking air pressure, I run beadlocks and have tinkered for two years with air pressure and not found anything magical to make the TrXuS MTs hook up.

That hasn't been my experience at all. Of course I am running a Jeep TJ so the weight difference might factor into it a bit. Keeping the TrXuS balanced seems to be a full time job. I had the same problem with the BFGs on the road in crappy weather until I had them siped. It might be a perceived difference off road, but the siping seemed to help there too.

As soon as I read that you had the bfg's siped, I knew your review would be different that mine. My trXus balanced fine and my bfg's didn't. I guess it's all in the manufacturing idiosyncrasies.

The siping made a huge difference. As for balance, the TrXuS seem to be out of balance every 1000 miles or so. The BFG's were out of balance for me every 5000 miles or so. I am glad they are working out for you as I have not had very good luck with them.

Ha

I picked up a set of Mickey Thompson Baja MTZs. Very pleased with them so far. Have no problems keeping up with other rigs equipped with TSLs and other tires.
