alright, my airbag light has been on for a couple of days and i just noticed my inspection is due. i'm pretty sure that it wont pass inspection (97 TJ) with the light on. i have checked the fuses and they are all fine. plus, my horn doesnt work ever since the airbag light has come on. would the horn not working cause the airbag light to come on? could there be some sort of short where the bag is? is there a way i can cut the light off myself? thanks

Sounds like it may have something to do with the ring that makes the contact in the steering wheel. I would drop the lower dash and also the steering wheel shroud and check to make sure everything is plugged in nice and tight. I doubt it came unplugged though because usually they have some sort of lock on the plugs.

YOu wont fail for the light but will if the horn wont work.

You can try un hooking the battery and let the computer go to sleep (about 10min or so) and then hook it back up and see if the light stays offand seeifthe horn will work

take it to somebody that knows what they are doing. If the air bag goes off while your messing with the steering wheel you will be hurt

My vote would be the " Clockspring" behind the steering wheel

Horn power AND air bag power go thru this as well as any other steering wheel controls you may have ( radio, or cruise for example. )

that your air bag and horn are inop, would suggest this is the most likely cause.

and yeah, if you don't know what you are doing, take it to someone who does

x2^ clockspring.

and that tells you the clock spring causes your problem... Stop posting useless links and go fix the thing

:p
