what to do? engine just removed

ok, the mods will move this Im betting, but here goes.

1. just pulled a running 60's model chevy 307 from a project ride. complete top to bottom, front to back. it runs but will need a rebuild.

2. I DESPISE tire kickers and dont have the patience for them

3. I DESPISE folks coming to my house that I dont know- unless they are from this community (nc4x4)

4. Im sure that this thing isnt going to sell for any real $, if at all.

so,

1. is it worth anything as a running motor?
2. is it worth anything as a boat anchor
3. is it worth anything as scrap?
4. any other ideas?
5. is it possibly super rare and can I sell it an retire early?
6. anybody know anybody that needs a v8 for a farm truck?
 
If it was a 327, 427, or rare fuel injected motor it may be worth something, but a running 307 doesn't have much value. Anything that needs rebuilt isn't worth much given the fuel injected motors that come out of late model trucks and cars today that put out decent power.

I know, thats the problem. heck, I only gave $200 for my 350 TBI and like $100 more for my 6.0 lsx motor.
 
I wouldn't even bother with it.For the hassle of people coming over,Tire Kickers and the like you will go insane,not to mention get $100 if lucky.Throw it in the truck and carry it to a scrap yard.You will probably get like $50 for it and be done with it.Just my 2 Cents,but I just did the same thing with a 305.
 
Pre ~70s is the small journal cranks. BUT a 307 has the same stroke as a 327 so that alone gives it some value as one could toss it into a small journal 350 block and 'make' a 327.. I'd say ~100-200 depending.. Can't hurt to toss it on craigs and see..
 
Not sure if it's worth it but could always make a 327 and sell it. I'm not really familiar with really any SBC but throwing in a set 4" slugs will make a 327. Is there any block differences?

Nevermind a few minutes of research just answered my own question.

Yep, that's what we're doing with the 68 Camaro I'm building for my bro-in-law. Roller 350 with a 307 crank = roller 327!
 
FWIW, I think gen chat is a good place for this type of discussion. See no need to move to gen tech, you're not asking a tech related question, but rather a price related one.
 
call some machine shops. They may could use something off it
