what to look for in fish-finders and such

ok, so I just bought a 16' jon boat with trolling motor and 9.8hp merc 2 stroke (on the cheap) so I want to drop a little </= $200 for a used or new fish-finder. I want it to work in fresh and salt water and be 12v not 24v. Opinions etc? advice?
