I've got a guy really wanting my Iroc Camaro bad.http://hickory.craigslist.org/cto/2511621892.html
and he's wanting to trade me even for a '06 Harley Heritage http://asheville.craigslist.org/mcy/2516151496.html
I really can't make up my mind.

good:
I love to ride
always wanted a Harley
I get rid of a car taking up space that never gets driven
good fuel mileage
wife has not said ''no''

bad:
dangerous (hate to get hurt having two small kids)
takes time from my family
feel like its not really an even swap and he has nothing to boot w/
would really like to have cash to buy a mild/wild built family wheeler
don't really have time to ride it
and did I say it's dangerous

I usually don't ask for advice on something like this but I am stuck. I feel like I'm having an early midlife crisis. I just need some change. Tell me what you would do. Thanks

Kenneth, knowing as I do, I would have to say if it were me, yes I would, but,...I don't have two small kids. The way you spend your time with family, I don't think it's what you would be able to use very much.
You may want to ask yourself if it may be something you could trade or sell, to get what you want.
Unless you want to hold onto it for about 15 years till you and moma can get to use it more.

I'd trade and then sell the bike. I'm sure it is easier to sell the Harley then it would be to sell the Camaro. Really nice Camaro, but it is hard to sell the nice ones since there are so many cheap ones out there. I've been an F-body guy since I could talk, and I know if I was in your position I would trade for that bike and resell it.

I stopped riding years ago when I lost a couple of friends to accidents, then I had kids and will never ride again.

being the Harley guy that I am, I would definitely say do it. an IROC for an '06 Heritage? that's EASILY a $10,000 motorcycle ANY day. it would be easier to resell the Harley if you ended up not liking/using it than it would be to sell the Camaro. I'm saying this without evening clicking either link (mostly because I'm in Iraq and for whatever reason they have CL blocked so we can't get on it), but I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Trade for the bike. Sell the bike. Buy four seat wheeling rig for quality family time.

thanks for the quick responses. I didn't figure it would be hard to get opinions out of this crowd. haha Did forget to mention the bike will be forsale if I trade. Just thought I'd ride out this season and maybe it would be easier to sell in the spring. I also think it will be easier to sell the bike than the car that's really why I'm considering it.

do it. getting 12k for that car, IMO, seems like a stretch. but then again, I'm not a camaro guy either so it may be normal...

I'd do it, ride the bike for a little, and sell it. I'd think selling a bike would be much easier than the camaro

you better trade before he comes to his senses.don't take this the wrong way but the bike is worth twice what the car is. we had a 89 vett with 23000 miles, not a scratch, show room condition that only brought $8500.the blue book on the bike should be close to $14000.00

Trade it. Quickly. Then sell the Bike and build a new offroad toy.

The bike would be an easier sell I believe, and you do have what he's looking for. Those year Camaros I gaining popularity now, I looked at a convertable one recently but it was to ratted out. I rocked those same louvers on my 92 firebird - crager black magics!

If you ride the harley for awhile, don't do like most harley guys - run 60 mph in the left lane of the interstate and make everybody go around you. I love it when the kid wearing flip flops and shorts on his Ninja or Dual Sport blows by them.

I do a fair amount of highway driving, 2 slowest vehicles on the highway;
1. Harleys
2. Mexicans towing mini trucks back to Mexico

Update:
I decided to atleast go and see what the bike is all about. We made plans to meet in the morning. Keep in mind I'm going to have to haul my Camaro 75 miles over Black Mtn. in order to pick up all the accesories that go w/ the bike. I was kinda getting excited about the trade w/ the persuasion of you guys when I went to start the car and it ran for about 3 sec. and died. NEVER in the six years I've owned the car has it ever failed to start and run. Needless to say I'm going to have to drop the exhaust and rear end so I can drop the gas tank to install a new fuel pump. What luck!! It just seems like everything for me has went to shit lately. Luckily the guy understands and hasn't backed out yet. I just don't have time to do this w/ everything that's going on. Hopefully things will work out but my luck has just been awful lately.

Well I started early yesterday morning changing the fuel pump on this car and it took me and a good mechanic eight hours. We had to cut the exhaust and unbolt it from the converter, we had to drop the rearend completly out of it except for the drive shaft. It was a lot bigger job than we thought. Auto manufactures are idiots the way they do some things. We basically got it put back together and I call the dude I was trading it to to see ifi he'd rather have a flowmaster or something like that on it since the muffler was already cut off it. Keep in mind this guy was the nicest fellow you'd ever want to talk to before yesterday. We had talked on the phone for three plus hours this week. But when I called him yesterday it was like you flipped the jackass switch on. He asked me if id got his email. I said no. He said maybe you should've. That when he became an ass about it. The whole time I'm thinking the deal was 99 percent made. I never said anything out of the way to him at all but he still ended up just hanging up on me. This just reenforces the way I think of the general public. I'm not pissed the deal fell through at all. I am very pissed how he went about doing it. Why couldn't he have just picked up the phone and called me early in the morning knowing. Basically the dude robbed me of a day of family time telling me to get it fixed so we could get the deal done and that's what I did. I know it needed to be fixed but damn I could've done it any other time but on Saturday. He now won't answer my calls. It's probably a good thing cause it wouldn't be pretty. I am going to send him a nice little email though.
