what would you guys say...........

the purpose of my decision is still a mystery to you all :smokin:

is there a method to my madness?

entertainment has nothing to do with my decision.............If there was jeep that met my requirements then i would surely choose it.

any guesses?

Just remember.........Though i have defended jeeps on here for a long time, remember that i have never said anything negative towards my japanese compatriots.

I would say what are your requirements? At this point is any rig short of buggy really going to fit those?

LC80...that is one of the big ones I think? Selectable f/r...if so very nice, I have to admit I think about building a LUXURY wheeling rig myself often during the hot/cold months...

If you sell your Jeep...what kind of budget would that give you to go all out and build a rock buggy or buy one that was "last years model" from someone competing? (Heck Stones is 10k...only downside I saw to it was the used motor...and not sure if it was rebuilt, etc?)

Sam

80's can be very capable... though top-heavy. Good, stout driveline, and with the cromo dust that's be lathered all over Toyota stuff lately, you won't even be breaking birfs anymore.

As for the reason I think you're thinking about making the change - You're a pretty-boy, and even though Jeeps are :gay: and it fit you well, yours now has a slight bit of "rough around the edges", and you can't have that... :flipoff2:

hahahaha nice. i miss your wit. your are right though. i am a beautiful speciman of man. :huggy:

pregnant? nope i'm on the pill. luxury? gonna need alot better reason then comfort to switch to a toy. budget? well i think everyone knows there is no such thing as a budget.....just the amount of money we haven't spent yet.

i will give give you guys clues cuz it is fun having yall guess.

reliability and size were 2 of my main concerns. however off road capability was as well.

and no...................i am not trying to prove that i can make you guys look bad in a toy as well as a jeep. hmmmmmmm. I am starting to like this idea actually. I also think i will run MT/R's. :flipoff2:

rich is as usual correct though. the strength of the stock drive train (repeating STOCK) is one of the main reasons this vehicle may become a new project.

what year Land crusier????or LC80 same thing ..right?

He'd want a '93-'97.. the early ones had the semi-float rears.. still good, but the FF's are better.

FJ-80 is just the internal model designation, like those jeep guys saying MJ XJ YJ TJ GJ DJ WJ QJ ;)

0000..I see.. those came with the straight 6 in it ..right? if so that would be a good trail rig/ family wag. we drove those out west in the desert and realy liked it .......there must be a bun in the oven

a lexus lx450 is the exact same thing IIRC. and some of them have selectable e lockers F/R, thier birfs are HUGE compared to mini truck or older lc birfs. Maybe jason (WolfpackTLC) will pipe in here, he has a badass 80 series

i thought 93=97 came with a 4.7 V8?

Nope. not till the 100 series when they went IFS.

The birfs are big, and 30 spline at both ends, but once you go chro-mo shafts, even the minitruck 30-spline birf can snap a 300m inner... But stock, they are a heckuva alot stronger than a mini... But the 80 is one heavy bitch!!

u are gettign a dog? wrecked the m3 and need something slow to dd. finally decided to leave the dark side?

ok the real answer is you are getting married and want something that she can ride more comfortably in so she will wheel.

I'd just get another woman or tell her to get over it before I built something I'd be sick about bashing up. :flipoff2:

nope, nope, nope, and nope. my women know better then to come between me and my vehicles. :huggy:

like i said it isn't in stone. no pun intended. If i can find a low mileage one for a good price then its on like donkey kong.

Wolfpack could prolly help me out alot. i remember i remember he had a nice one. Rich you prolly know alot about these things too.

are the stock lockers any good or should i just switch to arb's?

The stock lockers are great.. alot quicker than I would have thought, just keep 'em lubed every so often.

But, only like 9% of FJ80's were equipped with them, and from what I've read on the 80 list, most sellers confuse the center diff lock switch with the real lockers, and will tell you it's locked, when it's not.

No biggie.
