What's happening

First of all I have an '04 Wrangler X. It has a 2-3'' BDS Suspension lift that was suposedly put on by the factory when the previous owner bought the Jeep. It has 31's on it that need replacing. When I hit 40-50mph it goes into a tire shake/death wobble and I have to hit the brakes to about 30mph, downshift and then go through the gears again. It only happenes if I am cruising in that speed, if I am powering through that mph range, it doesn't happen. Any thoughts?

thats where id start... typically id say that if it was a mechanical problem, youd notice it more often then just then

And the lift was more than likely put on by the dealer, not the factory.

That's what I meant... the dealer... they bought it as an option.

Is there a good shop around here to take a Jeep to... that specializes in lifts and such? The Charlotte Area

Check the steering linkage and track bar bushing, make sure nothings loose. Let me know if we can help. We're just outside Charlotte in Indian Trail.

If they charge you for a 4-wheel allignment, pucker up. You just got screwed! In other words, there are no allignment points on the rear axle. It is what it is. Have the front end checked out.

^ a 4 wheel alignment can check to make sure that the axles are tracking together. my rear axle wasn't tracking straight after an axle swap. a "4 wheel alignment" found that problem.

Let me know. Make sure they do a four wheel alignment, even though there's no rear adjustment, the front measurments are supposed to be based off of the rear. Also, a front wheel alignment won't take caster measurements.
