so whats legal as a landowner to hunt coyotes at night? can I use lights/lasers and or shoot from my vehicle (its comfortable and has lights:flipoff2:). plan on calling, but still its hard to see the little buggers and I dont want to shoot dogs (obviously). lets make this easy and say 'out of deer season'.

You cant hunt them at night unless you have a special permit. You also have to be outside the truck. This was the law as of fall of last year. They said that there were was a bill that was going to be passed to hunt at night, but I havent heard about it in a while

as of now you can't really use a light or hunt at night. Other then coon.
If you do hunting in a area that deer are known to be they can get you for hunting out of season, with a light and at night.
You may need to prove that you are hunting varmit with use of calls or something.
If its a place you deer hunt and have stands, it can be really hard for you to prove what you were doing.
It's best to call your GW and ask him or tell him what you plan to do.
As I was told if I'm hunting out of a deer stand for hogs,(no closed season) I better not have corn or anything deer would eat. If I hunt over table scraps, bread or other food I would be fine. Add something that deer eat, it's up to him if he really thinks I was doing something wrong.

i was under the impression you could hunt them at night but you couldnt use a spotlight.

Why cant you use lights? Dont you want to see what your shooting? Guess thats why you cant hunt at night.

NO hunting them at night or with lights.

arent you the game warden or something? seems like i remember you or someone else from around clayton being with the wildlife resources comission.

I am not a WEO but I do work for the WRC. I called a LT for the answer before I posted, just to make sure I wasn't passing on false information. Kind of sounds like a Holiday Inn (or whatever hotel commercial that is) commercial.

so, not even this year? I thought the regs were changing to red lights for 09~10

According to the LT I talked to, you cannot hunt coyotes at night this year. The only way you can shoot coyotes at night legally is if it is for depredation (i.e. they are on your land and are attacking your livestock or pets, etc). The regulations have not changed to allow any night hunting this year (just spoke with another LT).

what about if they are scaring the crap out of your parents?

You'd probably be in less trouble for shooting your parents.
