I was at the local carolina kawasaki shop or ATV store just to make it sound more simple.

I was looking at a suzuki "it was there" 450 ATV "im not good with names and the techy stuff", it was a beauty and the price on it wasn't so much.. If i remember it was around maybe 500 or more. I like the size on it and all, power :) gatta get up those hills one way or another and mud slinging is always a back up option after a rainy day! with my buddies.

Since our economy is strucked, gas prices are going up, are prices of recreational vehicles going up as well?

Im still looking for one, im wanting to find a nice one at a fair price

What does everyone else have?

I just bought one for my girlfriend, we got the suzuki 750,it came down to the 450 or 750, same body just bigger motor. been hitting the trails at adventure world and uwharrie, wouldn't trade it for any other one. We love it, lots of power and lockers and independent suspension makes it day from night. I am looking for some tires and maybe a lift. Hope you get the one you want. We paid about 6700 for ours with 3% rate, $100 a month isn't bad. What made the deal was that the difference between the 450 and 750 a month was $20. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Hell yea

Ive got a 07 suzuki kingquad 700 with 29.5 outlaws on it and I love it. Also I have a 00 honda foreman 450 with 28s, 2" lift, currently waiting on a rebuild (to much water) lol. I love my kingquad and the irs, lockers are worth the extra money. Also when it comes to reliability a single cylinder is better than a twin and one more thing kawasaki's like to eat belts and do not like water.

I know it's not for mud but I just bought a new LE polaris outlaw 525 and I love it. It will out run anything. Utility four wheelers are for old men.

A few things I've found out. Others will probably disagree...

Stay away from 2cycles. The oil can be expensive.

Get one with metal racks on the front and rear. They are very handy.

I smaller 2wd will go just about anywhere a big 4wd will because of weight. You can always get off and lift it over a rock if need be.

Yea 2 cycles will foul plugs much easier at low RPM's when trail riding. Thats definately something to keep in mind.

no joke. my buddy can go just about anywhere on his 2wd 250 recon that i can go on my 4x4 330 polaris.

I have a 03 suzuki vinson 500 4x4 and love it has great power now that it has a hmf pipe and has been jetted and has some 26 swamp lites to get through the fun stuff. Another thing to look for is a pull start if it has electric start that way you never get stuck with a dead battery. I had my old one stollen when it happend to me.

A good question is.......

What exactly do you want it for, and who may ride it? How much experience do you have on one?

You can get a haul ass sporty model that can easily get away from you/hard to handle and doesn't have many utility uses... A hell of a ride though.

They also have "Cadillac" models. Power steering, auto trans, built in winch, large platforms for your feet, Low/High four wheel drive, very easy/comfortable to ride. They have many other uses besides recreation.

I think I've seen a 750cc model, for many people a 350cc is plenty, but a large/heavy ATV usually does better with a larger engine. Just something to think about $$$, they used to go up $500 or so for every 50cc.

Well, it's hard to beat the reliability of a Honda. They just won't die. However they are behind the curve as far as power & ground clearance are concerned. I had an 06 Honda Foreman 500 S. I put 27" tires & a winch on it. Never brokedown, never had any issues other than tie-rod ends wearing out but I wasn't easy on it. Sold it to a buddy of mine cause we stopped going riding as much as we used to.

If I had the money to buy a new 4x4 atv, I would get a Kawasaki Brute Force 750i. They are just plain beastly. We mainly rode mud though, plus it's fun outrunning sportquads on a big utility.

Depends on who's riding it. Also anyone who's owned a 2 stroke knows to carry a few spare plugs at all times. My favorites are the 80's Honda TRX250R and the Suzuki LT250R. I've owned both and powerband is a blast on tight trails! I've also ridden few 4 strokes but no 4wd's. The Newer Honda 450R is a nice bike.

Ive got a honda Rincon and love it. No belts and it has driveshafts for reliability.

Hondas lack ground clearance but seem to do the best in the deeper muck especially when snorkeled b/c of not having any belts to drown out like the kawai yamaha or suzuki. I had a 700 king quad and sold it to by my wave runner but kept my 450 yamaha grizzly. The 450 has gone more places stock than my 700 did on 27s and a lift is easier to manuver and is just an all around better machine minus the power. Be weary of the rear frames on the suzukis. My king quad rolled the upper rear mounts inwards causing the tire to lean into the bike. The best part about owning my king quad was that everytime the rep was in the marine for our suzuki outboards I could always bring the quad in and get updates performed or get notice of recalls that suzuki was notorious for not mailing to me
