I've seen the 305 V8's (automatic camaros) that would barely get second, nowhere near 3rd. Some of the smaller V8's just don't have the oomph(there seems to be an era from the late 70's to the mid 90's where the performance wasn't there for a lot of V8'S). Not all, but most....... had weak 8 cyls in this era. I want to say some of the early 80's Corvettes only had the basic 250 hp small block....IN A VETTE.... Chevy's biggest sports car??? I beleive....... the basic version of the 454 is only 290 hp.
