Just curious why I keep seeing some run thier irocs backwards. It seems with the cupped treead pattern they would work better in the correct direction. I'm getting ready to run 37 irocs, and maybe 39's on my new buggy and just wondering if there might be an advantage to running them backwards.

I think its just people trying to figure out how to make the tire work, kinda like grooving thornbirds:flipoff2:

I always thought it was for backing out once you F$%^ed up....

couple of reasons, Iroks chunk bad, running them backwards seems to help keep them from doing that quite as much. Another reason to to keep them wearing evenly rather than having some very rounded lugs that don't "bite as well".
And I have heard from a few people that don't like them much that it helps them "suck less".

It's sorta like an old ground hawg, run forward for deep mud/water so it can dig and channel mud out. People fun it backwards for rocks 'cause the outer cleats bite the rocks better, don't slip off. I think it's OK to run backwards for little mudholes and such but nothing hood deep.

Well I guess that pretty much answers it? Seems like ther is pros and cons to forward and backward. I think I might try both ways out, then i can decide for myself which way is the best.

Use to ride with a guy who ran Boggers reversed on the back and right on the front...

Pj. runs his backwards. I ask him why and he said(iirc) they last longer on the hwy and in general, if you run them the correct way. Since his is a rock crawling trailer queen, he reversed them and they bite better w/out the worries of early road wear.

P.J....correct me if I miss quoted you.

I run 3 of them right and 1 of them wrong. Why? Cause the tire guy is blind...I guess!!

Helps reduce chunking.

I am really not to concerned about road wear, since I have a buggy, just mostly wondering about performance offroad. Seems like most that are running them backwards seem to think the off road performance is actually better backwards. Am I understanding that correct?
