What's the hot poop in gauges these days?

I’d say you were more fun when you rode dirt bikes. But you were faster so that isn’t true either.

I’m a C class rider again after 2 years or so of having a garage ornament. Cmon out to a tri state race. It will be fair now 😂

I like the OG look of them and I have quite a few as a start.
I wanna clean up the wiring and minimize it all I can. That's the main reason behind going digital.
I had a gas station cheeseburger today so I'll have plenty of poop time later to surf the options y'all posted

Everything wired into two connectors.

I will say on this build I'm going to do my best to make the effort to keep things nice and tidy. It very well may be my last real build.
So I want to make things really nice (not an afterthought). Since I can't interface my Ford PCM with the LJ dash to make the gauges work. I'd prefer to have an all in one sort of thing that looks nice.
@Shreddinlettuce: spoon feed a 48 year old guy what you mean by Windows tablet and how I would monitor items with it?

Basically it converts analog signals to something that reads on a tablet

Back to the original post… one gage works with android tablets

With all these gauges and assorted wiring, this scene keeps running through my head :D

The One gauge stuff isn't waterproof at all. That's what the BK buggies were running at first and they all failed in less than 6 months.

The 3.5" and 7" Holley stuff isn't great either. The Pro Dashes are better but they are touch screen which I don't like for offroad.

I have about 3 good options in mind for a somewhat "limited" budget : AIM, AEM and Stack.

In all cases the cost is going to be superior to a set of analog gauges. Additionally, due to the fact you cannot interface cleanly/simply with canbus, the wiring of a screen with multiple sensors vs separate gauges isn't much more complicated.
Given your parameters, unless you actually want a screen, I'd go with Autometer electric gauges for simplicity and the waterproof/elementproof aspect.

One thing to add. Make sure they are dimmable if using LED illumination. Mine piss me off and I can't run them at night. I have not researched if I can ultimately dim them with resistors or a controller.
Mine have a resistor in line to dim them. The dimmer switch on the multifunction stalk in the LJ doesn't work once the cluster is removed.

Gauges not be trending no more

I have too much grey in my beard to worry about trends.
Dang son, $2k for guages is way past reasonable for my build. Very nice though.
I'll probably go back with some mechanical gauges and put the extra coin towards finishing the buggy

Thats just the fancy option my friend
Really cheap versions like this, a data hub that connects to a ipad or tablet

Unique possibilities for a 4wd buggy build - use split screen: gauges on one side, AllTrails on the other.

Analog autometer gauges will still probably set someone back $1k.
Alot of these data hubs are sub 500 doll hairs, and most everyone has a iPad or Tablet already

you see, I'm old and need to be spoonfed this sort of info.
I build a hell of an axle. But this is all new to me

RealDash is a fancier option

These OBD2/CAN versions all work best with newer engines where the ecu already contains all this information (speedo is gps of course).

However if you are running an old school engine (302/351?) and got some analog sensors - you will need to go the data hub route vs OBD2

Shadow Dash MS app is like $5 for android only iirc, and works native with megasquirt via a usb cable for old school ford guys

Correct. I am running OBD1, OEM Ford ECM. Archaic but paid for and dead nuts reliable

You could look at a hub from someone like OneGauge. Ive seen others.
Analog oil pressure could be converted to digital easy
Then your screen and all would be a "kit" from them. Which just means more money.
With some google powers I bet you could find a bluetooth hub like OneGauge hub, and easily display all gauges on the Ipad
