Whats up with pop-up adds?

Whats up with the pop-up adds? I hit the x and it goes away until I move on to the next page. It is inconvenient because it blocks buttons when I'm navigating between pages on a thread.

Any ideas? I just popped in here to start a thread about this. Same as everyone else, each new page generates an annoying suggestion.
