First, I don't shave every day, only the couple each week that finds me in the office.

Have been on the same can of Barbasol for way too long.
Used a sample of "something" my wife had that was slick as hell! Loved it... zero irritation, but can't recall what it was (package got pitched that day before I got home).

Anyone found a shaving cream/gel that was super slick?

Edge gel but after a shower while the hair is still wet or at least wash face with soap before starting. If therre's any hair conditioner in the shower put it on the beard area before rinsing and it softens/smooths it up too.
You were probably using her Skintastic or something! :D

Never found one that didn't help my face from breaking out.....electric all the way. I mainly keep facial hair for this very reason.

Difference is all in the razor IMO. Check out DE razors (old skool shiote)...upfront investment is a bit more, but you'll find you make up the cost fairly quickly w/ the cost of blades (bastards are dirt cheap compared to your 3/4/5 blade ones). I tried nearly everything before this and nothing really helped. Electric ate my neck up bad! This is my setup.

Razor - https://www.amazon.com/Merkur-Heavy...keywords=merkur+safety+razor+barber+pole&th=1
Blades - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003BWQX46/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (yea, 100 of these jokers for $10)
Shaving cream - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003VZPTAC/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I shave on the shower, wet but not shave cream. Hang the razor on a hook to dry.
Face doesnt break out, at all. And razors last me 4-6 weeks on average.

Now to be fair Im not an oerly hairy person. I can grow a decent full coverage beard in a week - 10 days.
But before I started shower shaving face was broke out most of the time and razors lasted 2 weeks tops.

I stopped using shaving cream. I have a beard but have to shave the spot between my eyes and beard because I'm part wolfman or something. And trim up the edge on my neck. I just splash some water on it and shave it quickly.

The edge gel is good. Many years ago my wife bought out all of the leftover Christmas gift packs with the Gillette razor and shave gel when they went on clearance. I think I'm still using those cans of gel.

Shaving soap and a boars hair brush.

I think my barber users alcohol and cocoa butter. It feels nice with a strait razor but hes just cleaning up my beard line. I hate shaving and before I grew a beard I would shave 2 times a week with clippers. I can grow a 5 o'clock shadow by 9 am though...

The best advice I ever got about shaving came from Pirate of all places. I would break out a lot and I hated shaving so they suggested a safety razor. The razors are cheap as shit from Amazon and I think they work better. I tried all kinds of gels, foams, etc but that was the best solution. Currently, I'm running some stuff I got at Wal-mart that I bought at the beach last year. It said "90 day supply" but I only have to use about an almond sized amount. It was $10 but it's been a good 10 bucks.

Shit. Looks like it went up in price.

The best for me is an electric with the Remington Shave Stick. But they have become impossible to find in stores, so i use cornstarch baby powder.
Works well and I smell baby fresh all day. Still only shave 2-3 times a week. Any more causes problems.
I only use a razor for special occasions. Weddings, my funeral, etc.
When I use a razor I use Dollar Shave Club Shave Butter. Nice, works great
If out of that I use whichever bottle of ladies Eos is on the bathroom counter.
Living in a house full of females ..... I just don't wanna know ..... but if it's good enough for a hoo-haa it should do fine on your face.
I also prefer the Dollar Shave Club regular 4 blade razors .... nice shave.

The last thing I used regularly for razors was Williams in a mug and a brush.

These days I'm pretty much Grizzly Adams, but not quite so much of a mop on top. If I do have to knock back some strays on the cheeks and neck line, I might use water. Otherwise, I just scrape it away with a dry razor. Otherwise, I just use scissors to keep the 'stache out of my teeth.

A couple of years ago I stumbled across the Badger&Blade forum, which is for shaving. I have zero interest in becoming a shaving enthusiast (but everyone needs a hobby I guess?), but you can probably find every product known to man for lather soaps and creams. I was just fascinated that you can find a forum for literally everything. Strangest 5 minutes of forum browsing I've ever had.

I use Edge gel, because it's cheap and works fine.

These three items are the way to go. A good merkur safety razor with gillette silver blue blades has to be the smoothest shaving razor I've ever used. And not by a little margin. My neck is very sensitive so I've tried everything. All of the top end multi blade stuff can't hold a candle to the above mentioned razor. The razor was $30 but the blades were $10 for a 100. So also very cost effective.
