So I've noticed in the last few years with Craigslist and the tough economy people seem to do a lot more trading these days. I got a buddy that has traded his way up quite well. Had a fast car, traded for a bike, traded the bike for faster car + powerstroke and has probably traded again since I talked to him last month or so. His thing is he doesn't have to trade and doesn't need money so he just waits till something he really wants comes along. I love my jeep, doubt I could turn loose of it but then again you just never know what someone may offer if they really want it. I been kind of curious about it but I'm scared someone might make me an offer I couldn't refuse.

I traded my old jeep for a four wheeler, enjoyed it for a while, then traded it for another jeep. Built that a little, then bought a well built very capable and street worthy wrangler. It worked out ok, just curious about anyone who has traded up and it worked out well?

I suck at trades. I've got a few friends that are constantly trading. I just always end up wishing I hadn't traded and typically end up with a pile of shit.

Yeah I made a very good friendship with the previous owner of my jeep, bought my wrangler from a member on here who had wheeled it for years, enjoyed it and was ready to pass it on. I send him pics ad talk to him regularly now. I hate dealing with the Craigslist crazies tho. I just sold a Honda accord last week, what a headache dealing with the morons that called me.

I know a couple awesome 'horse traders' that always always always seem to trade up. You know the type, can start out with a paper clip and a month later has a new set of swampers from 30 different trades through the month. Me on the other hand, I seem to go from new swampers to paper clip in one or two trades. I prefer to look for folks hard up for cash and trade that instead.

I've had a few great trades but it seems recently that my inbox is flooded with Craigslist spammers or people trying to trade me a hamster and a used set of Playboys for nearly anything I have posted. Given that, I've nearly given up on trading within the last year.

I tried to trade herpes for syphillis once and just ended up with both.seems like the best I can do Is break even or trade my way into a pile of junk/headaches no one else wants.its rare for me to do a good trade with strangers but when its with friends I generally feel a little better about getting the crappy end of a deal .occasionally I win on a trade but its rare I do my best with negotiating cash money deals

I'm always needing something of greater value and my stuff doesn't compare or equal out. Coupled with a long winded honest streak I never trade up.

I've made out before, but had to put a little sweat equity into it. I once bought a Burb on here and put a little cash and a lot of hard work into making it nice. Traded it for a K5 and cash. The K5 had a lot of issues that needed to be taken care of, but I was able to repair almost all of them with parts I already had sitting around. Sold it and made a couple grand on the overall deal, not counting my labor.

I'll never trade if I'm losing out on the deal, and I'll never trade just to take advantage of someone. I'll always try to trade up, but most of the time the other person knows that, but they just really need/want what I have and they are ok with it.

Yeah this is the case with my buddy that ends up on top. He's never screwing anyone over or vise versa, he just waits till someone wants what he has and is knowingly/willingly trading something better simply because they would rather have what he has. Sometimes it takes a while but he comes out good and meets other people that do the same thing, kind of creates a network of traders.

I think he was being ambiguous

I haven't been able to trade much. Sometimes it seems to be easier though and makes both people feel like they're getting a better deal since there's no cash involved.

Best trades I've done have been barters for services. My most recent one was the design and 2 years maintenance of a website for a car dealer in exchange for a running drivable 1995 S-10. It needed a new brake line up front, but $15 and an hour later, it was good to go.

This is pretty much on point with my trading experiences.

ok so I know who I'm gonna seek out next time I need to trade off some old crap..

I trade alot. every week. some on here, some cl and I wanna paper. have definitely made a alot friends and have lost a few.

I only trade cash.

Hmmm. Good possibility that I may post my jeep up for trade in the near future. Curiosity is eating away at me. Doesn't hurt to look.

I thought about putting my 4runner up for trade for some concrete work I need done. I haven't ever traded for services before. Not sure how it will work out. Guess it's worth a try.

I trade cash for what I want because I'm a hoarder. 75% of what I have I keep 'just in case" or because "one day I will use it for xxxxxx" I very rarely get rid of anything unless it is obviously useless or trash. I actually let a parts truck go about 3 weeks ago, and when the guy showed up to take it I was still taking parts off of it, then thought of about 5 more things I should've took after he was gone.
