Have any of you guys had any wheels widened?
I am considering taking some steel 16x7s and making them 16x9s. Stockton Wheels doesn't have a good reputation anymore, but there are a couple more places I'm checking out that "specialize" in wheel modifications.

That's a pretty cool website. Lots of pictures too!

I used Stockton Wheel back in the day, awesome service. Google search should give you a link.

Just as important, would you guys be ok and feel safe using widened wheels on a daily driver with 33" tires?

Why not pick up some new rims instead?

Yeah, I don't seen why not? I've seen plenty of 2wd diesel "sleepers" using a stock rim that has been widened. With as much torque as they make and as fast as they can go, I wouldn't be scared to use them. Especially not from somebody like Weld Craft, looks like they have their stuff together and stand behind it.

fwiw, weldcraft is going to be about $200+ per wheel to widen an aluminum one. Not sure about steel.

To the OP, unless the wheels are fantastic, why not get another pair of newer wheels?

I would think that is has got to cost more to have a set widened than to just sell what you've got and buy some wider ones.

I appreciate everyone's input on this. I've not actually priced having them widened. I just want to be sure it's done right if I decide to go this route.
