Do you or someone you know need a wheelchair van, but can't afford one? The National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA) is giving away 3 wheelchair vans to local heros. More details to come!
Folks, I will hook you up with NMEDA if you know someone who needs a van, but they cant afford it.
These vans are what we do for a living. Basically we lower the whole floor 14 inches and relocate everything that was under the floor to the rear. The door and ramp are automatic and the suspension lowers 3 inches when the ramp is down. You can drive from a wheelchair or be secured in the mid row or passenger area. Both front seats are easily removable units. Let me know if I can help!

Hey, if you are able could you post up some interior pictures and pictures of the controls for the driver? I've seen some really old handicap vans but yours looks like it's probably really fancy.

Ilderton has been in business since the 70's so, there have been a few changes over the years. Hand controls are about the same but everything else has moved on.

Awesome van.
If you are talking about the red one, that is the new Nissan. They are going after the Sprinter market. Runs about 10 grand cheaper. Uses the Titan V8 or V6. The rear area has threaded plates every where to fasten tool boxes, shelves or in our case Wheel chair tie downs and seat belts. I was impressed when I drove it. Turns tighter than my Tahoe.
The silver is a Toyota Sienna. It is pretty sweet. We Do Honda, Dodge and Toyota Minivans.

You should go to a local VA and talk to someone. There are always veterans that need these vans and can't afford them!!!

Sent from my microwave using a teleportation device.

We put more vets in vans than anybody else in the Carolinas. It all depends on thier % of service connection to thier injuries or sickness. If you know a vet that needs a Wheelchair Van, Send him to us, we will help him get all the benifits that he has coming to him.

I need a seat like that so the wife can get in and out of the truck LOL.

Awesome that you guys are doing this. I scrapped one handicapped van a while back that was a late 70s Ford van. Things have come a long way.

We are in the process of getting my Dad a van. He is a veteran Marine who was diagnosed with ALS last year. He has talked to the people at Ilderton. We drove a new Chrysler T/C the other week from there. Very nice conversion! We are just waiting on the VA to quit draggin ass with paperwork...but at least there are grants to cover a majority of the cost for the veterans.
On another note, I installed a Freedom Mobility seat system for him in his 2000 Yukon. Kinda like the gold convertible above...those things are amazing. He has progressed with his ALS where he cant use it anymore and we are having to go to a van.

Yep, I Have been working with your Dad (Bill) for months now. I am glad we could let him know that ALS was now a service related connection. He is locked in, but like you said, the ass dragging at the VA is aggravating. Getting wet ink on dry paper takes an act of God with them! He was cracking me up when we first started working together... My son Clay told me not to buy no Chrysler! Bill, you get a new one every 3 years, how bad can it be?!!

LOL yeah I never have been real big on Chrysler stuff but I gotta say I am impressed with the one we drove. Nice ride, they like it too. Hope to be in touch as soon as the VA gets there crap straight. Thanks for your help Tom!

Thanks, Cydney, Clay and W.B. It is nice to do something for a living that really helps people out. Especialy Vets.

I am doing a quote on a 4X4 F-350 van for a Veteran that lives in the mountians of WV. It will be professionaly converted to 4 wheel drive by Chris @ U Joint Offroad. If it all comes together we can do a post on it. It will be the first ever 4x4 Van ever approved for a Vet by the VA. Trying to do something new and different with the VA is a challenging process. We have his Congressmen and Senators involved, so, something is bound to happen. I just hope its good!

Nice! We posted a 4x Focus article on U-Joint last month. Would love to have a follow-up with this project!

Yeah Scott, I saw that too. The VA will put him in a van, for sure.

This series of wars has created more amputees per capita than any military action since the Civil War. Fighting against home made bombs, guerilla tatics and cave men with inaccurate AK47's, leads to a lot of injuries instead of DOA's. Our protective body armour, trained medics and battlefield trauma abilities saves a lot of lives, but creates a lot of amputees.
