Did some googling and didnt find much but ATVs and such. A while back I went with some of my dad's friends to West Virginia near the Hatfield McCoy trails and went trail riding in some Jeeps and a Sami. The trails were basically old mining and logging trails that have been washed out but we could ride one trail ALL day. Night wheeling got exciting too. Anyone know what general area in WV this is? Like referencing a small town?

West Virginia near the Hatfield McCoy trails That trail system runs hundreds of miles north/south and went trail riding in some Jeeps and a Sami. The trails were basically old mining and logging trails The entire state is covered with these trails. Anyone know what general area in WV this is? Like referencing a small town? There are MANY small towns in WV like what you mentioned.
Nick
I know there are alot of trails for quads that also have vehicles wheeling them around the HM system nearest Beckley, but you would need a local to show you around as to not get lost or shot:D

I believe we were camping in KOA in Welch WV and had access to trails all around. Basically nothing marked just take a left then right and follow muddy tire tracks.

Ashland Camp Ground in Northfork W VA \ i think its the old koa camp ground. We have been their a few times it a great place to go ,all the times we been we had snow.

Core recently posted, about riding "Diablo" W.Va. I don't have that info, & CTB, rode Potts Mtn., but I missed that one.

i believe that Diablo is ran during the Childrens Charity Run around the 4th of July. i think Mountaineer Offroad puts that on..the town was Swiss WVA...i think it's changed since i was there....

There are several Hatfield Mccoy trailheads, so without knowing what trailhead you were near, there is really no way to know where you were wheelin. I can say with certainty that Hatfield Mccoy will be opening thier own Jeep trails within the next year or less. The "jeep" trail system will be near Ivy, WV.

And yes, Diablo is a trail at Swiss.

I hope they do open the Hatfield system to jeeps, it would finally give me a reason to go back to wv

Can you elaborate on this? WV has unmatched untapped offroad potential. If its part of the HM system it has me wondering if its going to be like the rather uneventful atv trails or is it going to be traversing boulders and hills?

Im also very interested... Nick, shoot me a text or a message about this. Wouldn't mind investigating.

Been riding atv's there more than 10 yrs then got into the sami's have been going up every year feb/march great place to ride but no marked trails gotta know your way around or get up with someone that knows the area! MANY miles of riding and GREAT views!MY fav place to ride bar none!tring to plan a trip just cant get everyone together! We have been the last few years in late feb or early march !In the bluefield /welch area google wagon wheel west va bunch of stuff on youtube!

Here are pictures I took while I was there. We rode in a group of 4, 2 TJs, 1 Sami, and a Disco II
What you seen in the pictures is what it was like on the lower levels or valleys and when you go on to the sides and peaks of mountains it would tighten up and it was some serious trail blazing. No markers. No cell phone service. Moving fallen trees or crawling over them. Bring all the supplies you can. I need to get in touch with our fearless leader who grew up riding MotoX and atv there. I do know we stayed in Ashland Camp Ground in welch. We headed out and drove on the road for a few miles then into the woods we went. All day.

Some of the guys at Ivy City Fourwheelers have been working with the Hatfield Mccoy trail authority, my understanding is HM says one of the stipulations on allowing 4x4's were that the trails for 4x4 only would not be accessible by ATV/SXS. Here's some footage from a frind of a recent IVY ride.
