Has anyone replaced the fuel pump on their WJ by cutting a hole in the body above the tank? If so, can you post up a pic?
The fuel pump is dying on the wife's WJ. It left her stranded at the store today. Got it home. Completely full tank of gas, so don't really want to drop the tank.

beat on the tank to get the pump started back and jumper the fuel pump relay and run the fuel line to your gas can/s. with a battery charger hooked up and enough cans you should be able to pump it completely dry if you want to. wouldnt recommend trying to cut a hole in your floorboard. your tank and fuel lines will thank you

On my CJ, I've pumped the tank out, several times, with a cheap 12V fuel pump. Have to pull the fill hose, to siphon. Just wondering if you could install an inline pump, instead of replacing factory? Would this affect the fuel gauge reading? Does factory unit have separate wires for power, & sending unit?

Charles, thanks for the suggestion, I was able to get the pump running again. I'll either drain it the way you suggest or with a cheap pump like Rodney suggests. Wish this would have happened in 70 degree weather instead of 100 degree weather!
