hey guys,

i have an 08 jk wrangler and am looking to get the 3.73 gears swapped out to 4.88's (maybe 5.13's). does anyone know of any shops around the cherry point area that has done a few gear swaps and know how to do it right?? had one shop quote me $700 for the entire job but said they had never done a swap on an 08 jeep. not too confident with that.

$700 for labor only? I hope so, if not thats real cheap for parts and labor

Are you trying to bring your own parts?

If you aren\'t then my dad\'s shop in morehead will do it for you. Its crystal coast transmissions, 252-808-2556

there used to be a guy in havelock, right down from the high school, maybe Extreme something.... was the name, don't know if he is still there or not, that would be fairly close by.

If you can get it up to the raliegh durham area, I would definitely reccommend Chase at East Coast Gear Supply. He is a stand up guy, can get your parts wicked fast, and has really great prices. And on top of that, he really does top notch work. I would definitely reccommend him over anyone. His name on the board is Cperry, and here is a link to his website -> http://www.eastcoastgearsupply.com

thanks guys. the quote the shop i mentioned was $700 total with me bringing in just the gears myself. the rest was labor for both axles, however since they had never done an 08 jeep i dont think i wanna risk it

700.00 for labor only? thats too high if you ask me. if you were closer to charlotte i'd suggest a good gear guy for you. Cheaper too.

5.13's are on back order, I can get you 4.88's but they are also hard to come by. superior is the only company making Jk gears and they have been out for some time. If you don't bring it to us, Big Wheel Bob will take care of you.

I can personally recommend Chase at East Coast Gear Supply. I know it's a haul for you but price and customer satisfaction are top notch.

Yes they do. I dropped off my Jeep and after the install, Chase broke them in for me. Give Chase a call and maybe you guys can work something out.

x5 Chase. Been there, done that a few times with other installers, and would NEVER go any place else. But of course he's right down the road from me.:fuck-you:

I have set up a bunch of gears too. No offense, but I sure as hell would not let someone set them up for $55
