I did a search, but didn't find the asnwer I was looking for.

I've never had a vehicle weighed before, so I have no clue on what to do. I want to get my TJ weighed and my car (for racing).

Where do I go? Do I just drive through a line to a spot? I know these are pretty dumb questions, but I thought better ask them here than look like an idiot at the scales.

I live in 28214, what is the closest place to get a vehicle weighed? Also, does it cost anything?

There is a Wilco in Troutman with a cat scale it will cost you $9.00 for your first weigh and $1.00 for any other weights that day at that spot. There will be a 4 digit number in the bottom left corner of the first ticket that will need for the reweighs.

small truck stop off I-77 at sunset road. exit 16. i think they have scales.

There are scales on Highway 74 in Belmont right at the Catawba river (actually on the Charlotte side). They still work and and are consistent and fairly accurate from what I can tell. Can't be more than 10 minutes from you. They are free also. I stop in all the time. Sometimes the displays are turned around. All you have to do is reach through the window and spin them around.

I met a guy who had his f150 and travel trailer weighed at the weigh station off the interstate, I had no idea you could do this or how much it costs but he says he does it every time he goes camping. I bet he looks like a total douce weighting in line with 18 wheelers.
Not real sure of the accuracy but the county dumps all have scales just drive up hop out and tell you have no trash just want to know how much your truck weighs.

I run through the local quarry scales sometimes, it has a digital readout so you can check your trucks weight and then trailer and truck total weight later. If you feel guilty give the window girl $5 for lunch. I wouldn't say they are the most accurate, just free.

There's 2 near Poplar Tent rd, marten marrrita? and vulcan.

Srcap yards have scales also, but you'll end up with a flat most everytime you pull into one.

There is one of these fairly close to me on I85 South. I have passed it several times and there is always a line of 18 wheelers, just didn't know if I was "allowed" to jump in line with them.

The only thing about these scales are they are DMV scales and if you pull in they can wright you a ticket for being over weight. Go in in your jeep or hummer dont pull on the scale park were there cars are and talk to them and tell them you want to weigh to get your tags and all legal and they will tell you if it is ok or not.

Cat scale would be the easiest, but you being in charlotte...there are probably 3453 sets of longacre/racing type digital wheel scales around. Would be nice to know the weight of all four corners separately.
I think alex/carolina truggies said he had one at some point?

you talking about the old closed down one by riverview? if so when you weigh each axle do you just add all of them up or is it a formula.

Thats the ones. You just add them all up. If you are careful, you can usually fit 100 or so inch wheelbases on there at once. I've done it with an XJ, ZJ, and WJ. I did it just to double check the individual axle weights, and it is always within 10 or 20 lbs.

Well, I finally got it weighed. You are correct about the wheel base, we just baaaaarely fit.

I would have to say that the scales are pretty accurate.

It weighed my built TJ at 4,400lbs with me in it. I jumped out and it weighed 4,220lbs. I weighed myself on Monday at 180lbs- pretty accurate in my opinion.

The cool part about knowing the weight is now I am looking at everything I can do to get this pig on a diet. :driver:
