mines on the glove box, i also made some brackets that attached to the clips for the visors, worked pretty good for a while but never found a good way to run wires without tearing up my headliner.
Mine is portable. I use a power adapter that plugs into the cigarette lighter and the CB attaches to the glovebox via Velcro. The antenna is a pre-tuned type that has a magnetic base that sticks to wherever on the truck. Works fine on the trail but that is the only place I use it. Probably not a good set up for Smokey and the Bandit type stuff.
I run a Cobra 75 WX ST in my JK. It is a nice compact unit that will fit darn near anywhere. It is perfect for those trail rides and listening to the trucker chat on the highway. It has weather channels too,
I had mine mounted between the visors which I liked. I redid the headliner, so now it's mounted in the same place as Tom's above, just on the passenger side.
