I'm tired of walking back and forth grabbing tools and then laying them who knows where when working on projects in the garage.
What is a decent home/hobbyist quality rolling tool chest? Been to Sears, HomeDepot, Lowes. Some of the stuff feels like it would collapse under the weight of my 26" top box. I'm not looking to spend SnapOn money, but there has to be something that will hold up without popping welds, bending or otherwise annoying the crap out of me in the 2-400 range for a 26-36 rolling box.
I'd rather trust the experience here than online reviews....
If you do reply with ones to look at or avoid, please include model number if you have it. Seems like there's 10 models of every make & size.
Thanks

I have a 13 drawer Us General tool box from Harbor Freight that I use at work. Its held up very well for the environment that its in I've turned it over twice once with a fork lift still works great well worth my money and it was around 3 to 4 hundred dollars.

You can get into a Blue Point for $695. Lifetime warranty on everything. Will be worth more in the long run. The other thing would be run down your local tool guy and look at there trade in boxes, most of the time they can get you a used brand name box in the $4-600 range and have a better box...

X's 2 on the harbor freight. At work I have a big ball bering Craftsman and it's garbage. I just bought one of the US General from Harbor freight for half the price. It weighs about 20% more than the craftsman and is built a hell of a lot better.

I would love to have a Snap on just don't have the funds, but just so you know snappy, both my boxes are 90% Snap on hand tools. That's one area I don't slack on.....

Lol you are all good. I will be the first to tell a person off the street that if you don't make a living with it, it may not be for you. I will tell someone in a heartbeat to go Bluepoint or others but on some things you cannot beat our product.... I am working on a way to post up my used and repos on here(have to work out on here and corp)....

I'd go with a craftsman or try and find a used snap-on or any of the others said above. I will say the snap-on that my hs had was awesome but at the house we have had a craftsman for right at 16 yrs now and is still an awesome box.

This.

I have all craftsman boxes. To fix the walking back and forth and laying tools down problem, I put my intermediate and top box on my workbench and have my bottom chest as a roll around/ work table that I can roll over to my rig. I put the most commonly used tools in the chest and the lesser used/specialty tools in the intermediate and top box on the workbench.

I have two roll cabs 1 28in and a 42in, both with top boxes, and ithink I have 7top boxes and a couple of mid boxes. All are Craftsman and I have never had a failure. Most are ball bearing. Sorry Snappy! All of these boxes are overloaded but well kept. I have one drawer that is two inches deep with nothing but new drillbits! No deviders, just bits. That is some weight, but drawer works well.

No harm or foul. I will say this about them. The older ones are 10x better than the new ones, the changed there supplier a few years ago and the entry level ones went way down in quality. The middle and upper series will do all most guys need at the house with no problems....
