I'm looking at purchasing a new diagnostic tool and I'm looking for some input. I've been looking at the Matco Maximus 2.0 which is a rebranded Launch. It is the model that is Android based instead Windows 7. If anybody has any input on those it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Which tool are you using?
What do you like about it?
What don't you like about it?

If you are going to buy a rebranded launch, why pay the extra mark up and just buy the Launch? There stuff is great but not as good as others on domestic stuff as others but has a leg up on Euro cars.

BTW I can get the Launch stuff. I am a little bias though. I tell my customers to call all the different makers tech line and ask a question.... (hope you speak another language for most).

I actually just found out it was a rebranded Launch prior to the post. I looked at the Launch website and couldn't find the same model on there. I'm looking for a tool to use mostly on domestic diesels but it will be used on other applications from time to time. I'm looking for something in the $3k to $4k range at most.

we have a couple different snap on tools here. been using a solus edge for the last week my rep left trying to up sell me. lol. Im not a huge in to any certain brand tools. but i really prefer the way all of our snap on diagnostics work. Im a tight bastard. but need something euro compatible.

Do you want component testing ability?

Yes I would like to have that option. I'm having a hard time finding information on particular models and comparing them as far as their capabilities. That's why I'm looking for some user experience and preference.

Don't you dare buy a Matco or launch tool. I'll kick you. I bought a used modis years ago and love it. In my opinion there's 3 options - snap on, autel and if using autel pico for the scope. I'm sure snappy has some but if not my dealer has some used modis units!
Launch sucks sucks sucks! I've used the diagun and returned it within a week of purchasing it! Component test is a must if you don't have alldata. If you have alldata and iatn it's useless as long as you still have a scope.

I do have a used modis, and a verus. Actually i have a verus cart that gives you a bigger screen, locks, has a printer and all adapters have a home! I will post some pics later

i have a few,
snap-on solus ultra
snap-on verus
launch
autel

i prefer the snap on for 99% of applications, i use the solus for domestic and the verus for euro and complicated diagnostics
i use the autel when the solus is in another vehicle
i use the launch when........... i need some obscure data that none of the others seem to have

i prefer the snap-on's because they are faster than all others (in my experience), i have different brands because they all seem to have different data.
i have a good friend in the diesel end of repairs and he uses factory software for 99% of his diagnostics, every so often he will ask to borrow my scanner, but it is very rare.

The snap on units have most of the diesel coverage we need! Olee has a ids, which is a very nice tool. But you sure end up with a lot of money in dealer tools. I've got a vendor that priced dealer tools a while back and for the coverage I'd need it's be near $50,000 plus monthly or yearly subscriptions.
