Heading towards a Diesel for towing. Looking new or maybe a newer used (say 1-2 years old). Been thru 2 Ford F250 4x4 gassers - a '99 and an '06. Always been partial to Ford, and these last two have been problem free. BUT...I don't have faith in their Diesels.

Looking for a 4x4, crew cab, either srw or drw, pref long bed, will make do with short.

SO....if you were to buy a NEW Diesel....would it be Chevy Dodge or Ford? And why?

If you were to buy a 1-2 year old USED Diesel, would it be Chevy Dodge or Ford? And why?

I have a 7.3 now if I was to get a new truck it would be a dodge a family friend has one and it's nice, except they have had some problems with the emissions systems. I really like the engine braking system that is on his truck.

If I were in the market for a 2012+ it would be a ford or ram only.

The 6.7 is a far cry from the 6.4/ 6.0 headaches.

Then again the newish 6.7 Cummins are solid also... just wouldn't want a dodge tranny

Thinking of selling my 2012 ram 3500. Only has 6800 miles if interested let me know.

You can get a dodge with the optional transmission that is a clone of an Allison made by Aisin. And the dodge was rated best interior these past couple years.

2nd high choice would be the duramax. It's going to be quieter with the smoother ride IFS.

3rd would be the Ferd. I see way too many new 6.7s on the side of the road.

I'm really happy with my 14 Ram. The mileage has been great and its fun to drive. The ride with the rear coils is great and the interior is a huge step up over my 06. I'm not used to the trans yet but it's better than the old 48Re. It holds the power fine they just have it programmed to do some weird TQ management stuff in between shifts. I need to take it in and have the updated firmware put in as it is supposed to be much better. Mine was built the end of 13.

I'd say dodge. The new 6.7 fords make a lot of power... but the egt sensors WILL leave you parked on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere at the worst time. Ask me how I know... :flipoff:. Not to mention the particulate filters plugging up, ebp's, etc. ... and its a ford haha :flipoff2:

All depends on what's in ur price range and what you find a good deal on all the newer diesels are pretty good in all aspects. But from what I've seen prices of 2 year old trucks u can go buy new ones. I looked really hard at a new dodge for 40k out the door that's the trades man package but has every bell and whisle you need in a truck it's prob the best bang for the buck

Ppl knock the dodge autos but in stock form they would prob last. I've had several dodge diesel auto and manual and if you program them ur either gonna have to upgrade the auto with a shift kit and converter. Same way with a manual ull have to put a big clutch in it to hold the extra power. I've been thur each of those scenios and it cost a lil more to build a auto but a auto is alot better to daily drive. But towing it's hard to beat to manual dodge with a exhaust break.
