'80 Cj7, 350 chevy, sm 465, np 205, Dana 60. What would be a good spring choice for the front?

I have some rough country 4" from 3/4 ton. But thinking they may be to stiff and not enough articulation. (If I don't use these they will be for sale).

Anyone used Xj rears in the front? Maybe add a leaf to the pack. Or get aftermarket xj springs with say a 2 1/2" lift. My experience with aftermarket springs is they are usually alot stiffer. Would this be enough to compensate for the extra weight on the front?

Opinions, professional advise welcomed

Rubicon Express.
4.5" ZJ will get you about 6-6.5" or so.
3.5" ZJ will get you about the same proportion.
Not sure about the XJ or TJ springs though, but the REs flex great.

Stay away from Rancho, I had a 2.5 in pack on mine when I got it and it was only 3 leaves. So when I sprung them over they promptly de-arched within a month. Had to rip em apart and add leaves. Just my .02

Not sure what your lift requirements are and what motor you have but the stock YJ springs are a nice upgrade for the CJ. They flex well, especially in a SOA configuration. XJs would be interesting. You'd have to do some testing to see how many leafs you need to add. XJs used in rear applications usually need at least one leaf after some off road use and with the weight of the motor I suspect you'd need several.
