Which gears to use???

4.10

I agree. 4:10 would work fine. If you are considering going to a 35" tire in the near future go with 4:56.

They needed 4.10s when they were stock! 3.08s were a joke...

When I got my '83 k10 the guy said they couldn't keep transmissions in it, they had just installed the 4th 700r4. It came with a recent receipt from a reputable trans shop to backup his story. The truck was weak as water, just wouldn't take off. It had a crate 350 with around 25k in good health. It was on a set of 33s. What could it be?? It had 2.73 gears in lol it man that ole gal was anemic!! 4:10 would have been my gear of choice if I would have just regeared it.

At 65 mph, you'd be turning 1980 rpm with 4.10s and 33s. It'll be happy.

It would turn 3000 if you didn't have overdrive. 4th gear should put you at 2200 rpm at 65 mph.

Are you sure it has a 700R4?

4.56 x 65 x 336 = 99590.4
99590.4 / 33 = 3017 rpm in a 1:1 gear
3017 x .73 = 2203 rpm with a .73:1 OD gear of a 700R4

Granted, none of this accounts for a non-lockup converter. It may turn more RPMs with a looser converter.

Then you either have lower gears than you think, it's not going in to 4th gear, or the tach isn't reading right.
