Which Speedometer Cable - CJ???

79 CJ w/ 360, TF727, Dana 300. Currently has a Speedometer Cable for a manual - Jeep did have a T18 in it until I swapped recently. The odometer works with this cable, but the speedometer doesnt work. Do I need an 80" long cable for a CJ with an automatic??? Or something else? Thanks, Travis

When I swaped to an auto....My same cable worked fine. Check your cable connections.

X2. Im running the same set up. I used the original cable. If your odometer is working then the cable is working so it maybe something in the speedo itself.

I pulled the cable out the other day, and manually turned the cable, the speedo does work, so Im thinking it may be in the TC. It feels like the speedo cable is not seating all the way down in the TC, so I guess I will have to check out the TC a little closer.

maybe the gear in the TC is turning the speedo really slow? so it thinks you are moving too slow to register? Id think its a connection, but this might be a possiblity

just for the record - I believe the actual cable inside the speedo cable may have been too long. I replaced the gauges with Autometers, and cut the metal cable back about 1/4" and everything now works. Thanks for the input guys
